Carbohydrate Tolerance Test
Have you ever wondered why a particular weight loss program worked great for your friend, your mother, or your coworker, but not you? No, you didn’t screw up the diet. Your body was more than likely either getting too many, or too few carbohydrates to lose weight. That too many calories can stall weight loss is obvious, but why should the number of carbs matter so much? This is a topic of great controversy even among the most popular diet plans.
Consider what the best of the best plans out there have to say on the subject – The Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, The Zone Diet, The South Beach Diet, The Glucose Revolution, and Body-for-Life. You may be surprised to learn these diets have a lot more in common than they do differences.
- They all recommend eating 5 to 6 times per day every 2 to 3 hours.
- They all recommend lots of lean protein for weight loss.
- They all recommend refraining from simple and refined sugars.
- They all recommend exercise, both strength training and cardiovascular exercise.
- They all recommend including healthy fats.
So why do some of these diets work for some people, but fail for others? They obviously agree on most things, except one. Although they advise eating the same types of carbohydrates, they recommended them in vastly different amounts.
- The Glucose Revolution advises over 50% of all calories come from low glycemic carbs.
- Body-for-life advises 45% or more calories come from good carbs.
- The Zone recommends a spot on 40% from carbs.
- The South Beach diet advises 10 to 30% come from good carbs, depending the stage of the diet you’re on.
- Atkins advises 5 to 15% of your calories come from carbs, again, depending on the stage of the diet.
All of these plans have far more in common than they do differences, the most glaring of which is the number of healthy carbs to eat from fruits, vegetables, lentils, and whole grains. If you followed one of these books, but still failed to lose weight, it was more than likely because you needed more or less carbohydrates than the author recommended. It’s not that the book was wrong – it was the combination of you and the book that was wrong!
But wouldn’t it have been nice to know that before you invested your time, money, and hope into the book? This happens more often than you’d think, since most diet authors tend to think there plans are a one size fits all solution. However, nature has taught us that humans are vastly different in their capacity to process carbohydrates. A person who loses a lot of weight on Atkins is not going to perform the same miracle with The Glucose Revolution!
That’s why I’ve created the Carbohydrate Tolerance Test (CTT). This is a simple questionnaire you can fill out within 15 minutes to determine how many carbs a day you need to look and feel your best. My criterion is based on the latest research available. Some of the questions are so simple that you would never think they could reveal anything about your metabolism. But when all questions are taken as a whole, that’s exactly what they do.
Once you’ve taken the CTT, you’ll be given a list of which books are perfect for your individual metabolism. This takes all the guess work out of which diet is right for you. Since your CTT is very unlikely to change over time, you’ll know within seconds whether that new diet plan is something that will work for you. It’s that simple.
If you learn from the CTT that one of my products is best for you (which is not always the case since I cater to diabetics and those with a lot of weight to lose), I’ ll take 20% off the cover price of whatever you buy from me.
Try the CTT today. You’re 15 minutes away from knowing the truth about your body.
